Choosing the Right Material
At SEBSERVICE, we select thermoplastics based on the mechanical strength, durability, thermal limits, flexibility, and environmental exposure required for each individual project.
Choosing the correct material is essential to ensuring the long-term reliability and performance of your 3D printed component.
🟢 PLA (Polylactic Acid)
PLA is the most popular 3D printing material for visual precision and light-duty applications.
Benefits: Exceptional surface detail, cost-effective, environmentally friendly (biodegradable polymer).
Suitable For: Decorative items, visual prototypes, desk organisers, light-duty indoor accessories.
Limitations: Lower heat resistance (softens above ~50–60°C); not suited for heavy mechanical stress or direct hot sunlight.
🔵 PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol)
PETG offers high mechanical strength, chemical resistance, and excellent weather durability.
Benefits: Strong, impact-resistant, waterproof, UV and weather-resistant. Ideal for functional parts used indoors or outdoors.
Suitable For: Tool holders, wall mounts, brackets, electronic enclosures, garden accessories, structural components.
Limitations: Slightly more flexible under severe loads compared to PLA or ABS.
🔴 ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)
ABS is a tough engineering material engineered for demanding mechanical and thermal environments.
Benefits: High impact resistance, great structural toughness, and elevated heat resistance (up to ~90–100°C).
Suitable For: Automotive components, high-load mechanical parts, industrial enclosures, protective covers.
Limitations: Requires precise thermal control during manufacturing; unnecessary for basic decorative or light-use components.
🟡 TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane)
TPU is a flexible, rubber-like polymer designed to absorb impacts and handle repeated motion.
Benefits: Highly elastic, tear-resistant, shock-absorbing, and resistant to oils and wear.
Suitable For: Gaskets, vibration dampers, protective bumpers, phone/tool covers, flexible feet and mounts.
Limitations: Not suitable where structural rigidity or high load-bearing capability is needed.
